Wow christmas was totally awesome at on both eve's and the day itself. So because of my laziness to blog often. Its another 2 day special again.
24 December 2004(Christmas Eve)
Well actually it isn't that all exciting. Christmas eve all that was great was the ability to sleep late. The only good stuff was at night. Dinner time. Got fried rice, Hor fun, Pork with some sweet sauce, and Indian Rojak. Man I love feasts like this. Lots of food to stuff myself with. Sadly that meal didn't stuff me anyway. Was full but had room for more. Then as usual lots of gaming the whole day
25 December 2004(Christmas Day!)
Same as yesterday the activities wasn't much exciting except at night. Morning, woke up early to go gym. Good thing its open on holidays so can go work out and tone some muscles/fats. Getting fat lately eating lots with the choir gang. Then had lunch and slacked till its time to meet my secondary school mates. Went to WWL's house for BBQ and it was quite a small gathering, got classmates and some band people. The food variety was okay lots of sausages though and chicken wings, and of course marshmallows. Then we talked a lot, old times and made lots of jokes with aloy sprouting all the dirty ones.
Well the best part was the champagne and log cake. Wah very tiny little log cake but at least the champagne satisfied me. So the day ends like that.
Well christmas day. What gifts did I get. Lots of stuff and really good stuff. I got christmas cards from my choir friends man they rock. First time got such fancy hand-made stuff. And got chocolate(can't tell if its really alcoholic or just the packaging). And of course the bestest part is having all of them good friends!Man bestest year ever despite all the hell I've been through with school work and promos. It all ends well.
However the sad part is that during boxing day. Disaster struck the whole of south-east asia. Earthquake of magnitude 8.9 hit indonesia and it caused tsunamis and tidal waves to hit other parts of asia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, India, Malaysia and even Singapore could feel bits of tremors. If I'm not wrong someone's window dropped off? Anyway its sad, last I heard the death toll was over 2000. Man scary stuff. Hope you victims can find joy in your hearts despite all these.
I sort of thought up of these words whilst chatting. Found them kinda cool so I'll just write it down and share my thoughts with all to read.
Choir.
An addictive pleasure that brings wonder to all who participates within it.
As time passes, it slowly becomes your life blood.
You cannot change that for it is your destiny.
You are slowly being consumed by it and there is no return once you walked down that path of song.
You will sing as though you life depended on it.
You will live with songs and medleys coursing through your veins, every blood cells containing notes.
Every moment of your life is filled with crochets and quavers.
Sharps and flats float across your eyes and every rests no matter how short are all you crave for.
Your desire to sing solos and high notes burns everytime the song starts.
Always wanting to outdo yourself singing every decorations on notes be it stacatto or tenuto.
Once it has gripped you, it will not let go of you.
Forever.
I'm getting lazy lately not blogging events on the day itself and instead pushing it to the next day. So today's entry shall be a 2 day one so guess its gonna be a a long typing session, I think.
Sunday 19th December 2004
Sunday, finally a day to rest. Quite an uneventful day except for the SYC concert. Starts off with waking up late(man feels good to wake up late) went for jog to try to sweat off excess fats and the usual sunday lunch, cup noodles with coke. Then gamed till music lesson time and quickly go rush to the bus stop. Man the bus driver was so darn horrible. I stood at the edge of the stop and waved my arm to flag the bus and he just zoomed past me totally ignoring my existence. Man darn him!
Anyway went to music lesson late then. Managed to surprise myself by playing well except I think I'm overstressing the injured finger quite a bit lately. Should find time to let it heal. After lesson rushed to City Hall to grab some nachos and wait for the gang. Well the wait was rather long and even when already at suntec KFC they weren't at City Hall yet. End up eating Macs and quickly inhaled all them fries and burger and charged down to the Esplanade.
Wow the SYC people where totally awesome and cool(Melia's uncle being one of them). The songs were cool, their choral voices so perfect and their tenors make me feel like a baritone. Their high notes are sung with great precision and clarity, which makes me more conscious of the airy/throaty way I'm singing currently. After concert made me wanna go train up my tenor voice so hopefully next year can be sounding better and hit that kind of the high standard.
Monday 20th December 2004 (Today!)
Let's see. Today was a great eventful day lots of fun and excitement all day round. Too bad I had to not go for the song practices today. Anyway its my first time going to the Wild Wild Wet. It was quite a blast. Water water everywhere. Every part of it was fun filled with loads of water and splashing and stuff. I pretty much like the Shiok River, just get a tube and laze my way round the area. Probably went round the whole thing 10 times or more.
They got them slides and wave pools. They called it Tsunami but the waves are far from being tsunami liked. The kids area has the most fun stuff. They got like this big pail of water which splashes down every few minutes and there will be people waiting underneath for the great waterfall. I went to go try it and well it was kinda packed everyone vying for space to get splashed at haha.
After all that excitement, my family and I went to watch The Incredibles. Well I must say the movie was rather incredible just as its name implies. All the family members got cool powers especially Jack Jack. His powers are the most amusing of them all. Then finally ate dinner and came home to blog. Wow I managed to squeeze so much information in one entry cool.
Wow yesterday's concert was a blast! Got a tenor solo, Brother Paul was watching us, my Dad was watching me, and the seniors were there supporting too. Awesome concert we put up but too bad we couldn't have made it perfect given a few flaws here and there. But anyway good job choir and guitar club!
Let's see how should I blog this out. Morning I was able to sleep in for once, not needing to wake up early for choir practice and stuff. Then let's see ah yes went to Funan IT mall to get a DVD player(collected from some points thingy I think) and had lunch there. Also went to go visit there first floor for its significance next year. What might that be? Oh yes I'm talking about the 2005 Robo Grand Prix that will be held there and of course I'll be participating in it. Hope we can win more trophies again.
Anyway then went to go show my Dad where the concert is held at and finally they dropped me off at Raffles City there to go meet the rest of the choir gang at City Hall MRT upstairs. Found a good spot to sit and slowly they came one by one or group by group. And when all arrived we set of for the Arthouse. Nice backroom they have over there. Got lots of mirrors for facial improvements and space to walk around. Had our warm ups and practices and a run through with the whole program(including guitar people performance) then took a break for dinner. Dinner was a so bland meal, not that its bad, consist of fish, tofu and veggie with a healthy dosage of rice.
Then talked with Anson and yongxing, went to change, do all the stuff like gel up hair, take pictures and many many more. Everyone was like totally nervous about the whole thing, well as for me its easy to psych myself up. All I have to remember is Brent and Dale, 1 2 3 yes and its enough to get me up and ready.
Then came the performance. Oh my goodness did we have a great time. Everyone was putting in their all despite certain flat notes here and there(not too much). And we totally did a great job I'm sure. We had a small audience but nevertheless they were supportive. Sang our hearts out and before we know it, the whole concert was over. Rather short I must say, two songs here, two songs there, guitar performance and finally our turn again and we ended with a blast!
The refreshment apparently was all gobbled up pretty quickly except the drinks where there were still lots of left. Sat down and had a chat with the guitar people, chat with the seniors who came to support us and took a few pictures. Also had a nice chat with Brother Paul who gave great comments. Had 2 glasses of pepsi and totally went high probably all happy the whole ordeal was over and glad to have been able to perform well. Later on went to Burger King(AGAIN!) and got the guitar guys along as well. Talk talk talk, eat eat eat before they finally chased us out because it was like real closing time.
Finally the day ends with saying good bye to all probably not going to see them until next year except for the few whom I'm going to see again for practices for next year's Orientation CCA Pasar/Bazaar. It was a great day. Wonderful exceptionally awesome day. First long choir concert which features us man it was so totally cool. Wish there were more of it because it actually helps bonds the choir. Well at least for our group because we really stay together often and sing our lungs out.
This whole week has been a really physically exhausting week for me. Firstly we got choir practices on monday, wednesday and friday(the usual stuff, including lots of badminton), then we got that preview outside the arthouse on friday evening. That one was like totally not well done but I suppose its probably nervousness and it was real sad Miss Babes missed out the whole preview thingy. Apparently she was not informed of our start and therefore she missed the whole "performance".
Next is the caroling competition on Saturday. Afternoon we all met up at Paya Lebar MRT and went to charissa's house to practice for the competition. During our warm-ups it was like obvious that some of us were not up to peak performance, with sick and weary people around. Nevertheless we managed to put up our best competition mode/mood and clinch the prize for our Choir Category(Simple win because we're one out of the 2 participating institutes.[Other institute is Ngee Ann Polytechnic]).
Later on we went to the chalet and we stayed up real late for lots of fun stuff like badminton(Ouch I dented Amelia's racket with my right index finger and now its like gonna be out of shape a little). Then comes the weirdest part of the sunday early morning, drinking. First time I think I got drunk, my head feels light and my body feels flushed and warm. I start to like laugh a lot haha, really in a state of drunkedness already. Well can't really be helped because I took like 4 different types of alcoholic drinks so ya natural to get drunk or something like that.
Later morning approaches and the usual 8 of us went to Singapore Post Centre for a quick Macs breakfast before rushing to church for mass. Was amusing because we mistook one of the church for our destination when it was actually housing a wedding ceremony. Then after that Kenny, Me, Daniel, Amelia and Vanessa went to Suntec to enjoy a great lunch of a tub of ice-cream, ice mountain water(apparently Amelia can get high on those water alone, Meli Vanessa and I were like laughing a lot the whole time[laughing is contagious]) and some sushi. By this time we were really very very worn out from staying up so long.
So nice again to have lots of fun but sad that I had to sacrifice a bit of myself for some enjoyment. Hope the doc can manage to like 'repair' my injured finger back to normal.
